A group of multi-lingual residents of Pelham Apartments participated in a cooking class with Daniel’s Table on Tuesday, March 29th. Alicia demonstrated how one sauce from the Community Freezer Program could be made into 3 different meals! Pelham Lifelong Learning Center is one of the locations of the Daniel’s Table Community Freezer Program. Rescued food and locally sourced food are delivered to Daniel’s Table weekly. Alicia turns those donations into nutritionally dense meals that are packaged, labeled, frozen. She delivers these meals to freezers located around the City of Framingham. Residents experiencing food insecurity at Pelham Apartments can visit the Pelham Lifelong Learning center to get meals when they are in need.
The cooking demo was to show how one sauce from our freezer could be made into 3 different meals! Alicia showed the guests how to make American Chop Suey sauce. Then she transformed it into chili! And lastly, stuffed peppers! The attendees were in 3 groups, each with 3 individuals. Lots of laughs and great ideas were exchanged! The guests even taught Alicia some food related words in Spanish. They enjoyed the cooking demo immensely, especially the taste tests! View recipe here!
