Since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10th, 1948, the month of December has been recognized as Universal Human Rights Month.
The International Bill of Human Rights states in its first article that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”. And the article 25th says “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age, or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control”.
That’s part of the reason at Daniel’s Table we value dignity and respect when distributing food. We give families in need a shopping experience, that gives them a sense of dignity and control and limits food waste. A sample table has always a recipe made from what we are distributing, and that gives them a healthier choice to prepare food.
